How To Be Safe
Kinmel connects customers with shopkeepers who list products they have in stock. We don't process payments, verify stock, or vet who's on the other end of a listing - so please use the same common sense you'd use with any classified ad or marketplace. Here are a few tips.
Meeting a shop or seller
- Prefer visiting an established, physical shop address over meeting somewhere unrelated.
- If you do need to meet somewhere else, choose a public, well-lit place - a market area, a busy street, or a police post if one is nearby.
- Bring a friend or family member along if you can, especially for higher-value items.
- Let someone know where you're going and when you expect to be back.
- Meet during daylight hours when possible.
Before you pay
- Inspect the product in person before handing over any money.
- Confirm the price, condition, and any warranty verbally before you travel.
- Be cautious of prices that seem unusually low - if it feels too good to be true, it probably is.
- Avoid sending money in advance to someone you haven't met or verified.
Protecting your information
- Only share the contact details necessary to arrange a visit or call.
- Be cautious about sharing your home address with someone you don't know - suggest a public meeting point instead.
Trust your instincts
If something about a listing or a conversation feels off, it's okay to walk away. You're never obligated to complete a transaction that doesn't feel right.
Kinmel's role
