BYD Atto 1

The BYD Atto 1 is BYD's entry point into Nepal's fast-growing electric vehicle market, giving budget-conscious buyers a genuine, city-friendly electric hatchback instead of pushing them straight into SUV-level pricing just to go electric.

Two variants let buyers choose between a lower entry price and a longer-range battery: the Dynamic trim keeps things affordable with a 30.08 kWh pack good for around 230 km, while the Premium trim steps up to a 38.88 kWh pack and roughly 300 km of claimed range, which is comfortable for daily Kathmandu Valley commuting with only occasional top-up charging.

Despite its entry-level price, BYD has not stripped out the safety basics - six airbags and a genuinely modern cabin with a rotating infotainment screen and voice control put it ahead of many petrol hatchbacks in this price bracket, let alone other budget EVs.

BYD backs the Atto 1 with a 10-year warranty on the battery pack and electric motor, which matters a lot for first-time EV buyers in Nepal who are naturally cautious about long-term battery health and resale value - it takes a lot of the anxiety out of buying electric for the first time.

This is the EV for a Kathmandu-based buyer who mainly does city and short highway driving, wants to cut fuel costs dramatically, and would rather spend on a well-specced small electric hatchback than stretch their budget for a bigger EV they do not really need day to day.
